Primary root growth inhibition is a classical response for plants to cope with phosphate deficiency. In this study, we found this inhibition is depend on blue light, shoot derived blue light signal moves to root to regulate low phosphate induced root system architecture change through CRY2 COP1/SPA HY5 LPR1 signaling transduction pathway. Our study provides a new perspective to understand the coordination of light and nutrient signalling.
