Cleavage fracture origins under static and dynamic loading

Junshan Lin, Mingjing Tu et 2 al.

Jan 1, 1991 in International Journal of Fracture
According to the RKR [1] model, the process of cleavage fracture is considered to be governed by the attainment of a critical tensile stress, called the cleavage fracture stress, in the material. Griffiths and Owen [2] analyzed the distribution of tensile stress ahead of a notch root by the finite element method (FEM), and found that the peak tensile stress locates at the site beneath the notch su...

A nomogram involving immune‐inflammation index for predicting distant metastasis‐free survival of major salivary gland carcinoma following postoperative radiotherapy

Wenbin Yan, Chaosu Hu et 3 al.

Sep 1, 2022 in Cancer Medicine
The nomogram predicting distant metastasis free survival(DMFS) based on the clinicopathological factors and immune inflammation index for the major salivary gland carcinoma. Background Postoperative radiotherapy (PORT) is beneficial in the improvement of local regional control and overall survival (OS) for major salivary gland carcinomas (SGCs), and distant metastasis remained the main failure...

Elevated preradiotherapy serum lactate dehydrogenase predicts distant metastasis for lymphoepithelial carcinoma of major salivary gland following postoperative radiotherapy

Wenbin Yan, Chaosu Hu et 5 al.

Aug 24, 2022 in Head & Neck
Background To evaluate the predicting factors associated with distant metastasis (DM) for lymphoepithelial carcinoma of salivary gland (LECSG) following postoperative radiotherapy (PORT). Method We retrospectively collected 160 eligible patients from two cancer institutions. The DM rate was evaluated using competing risk method. Result The median follow up time was 65.6 months. Elevated pre...

Tetrahedron instantons

Elli Pomoni, Xinyu Zhang et 2 al.

Jun 22, 2021 in Arxiv
We introduce and study tetrahedron instantons, which can be realized in string theory by D$1$-branes probing a configuration of intersecting D$7$-branes in flat spacetime with a proper constant $B$-field. Physically they capture instantons on $\mathbb{C}^{3}$ in the presence of the most general intersecting real codimension-two supersymmetric defects. Moreover, we construct the tetrahedron instant...

Materials, Vol. 15, Pages 2585: Improving the Shape Memory Effect of a Fe Mn Si Cr Ni Alloy through Shot Peening

Huanping Yang, Yaomian Wang et 4 al.

Mar 31, 2022 in Materials
To improve the shape memory effect, the solutionized Fe 24Mn 6Si 9Cr 6Ni alloy was shot peened and subsequently annealed. The phase constituent was examined using the X ray diffraction method. Microstructure evolution was characterized using an optical microscope and the electronic backscatter diffraction method, and the shape memory effect was evaluated using a bending test. The results show that...

N=1 dynamics with T N theory

Kazunobu Maruyoshi et 4 al.

May 22, 2013 in Arxiv
We study the dynamics of N=1 supersymmetric systems consisting of the strongly-coupled superconformal theory T_N, SU(N) gauge groups, and fundamental chiral multiplets. We demonstrate that such systems exhibit familiar phenomena such as deformation of the vacuum moduli space, appearance of the dynamical superpotential, and Coulomb branches with N=1 Seiberg-Witten curves. The analysis requires a ra...

ADE String Chains and Mirror Symmetry

Babak Haghighat et 3 al.

May 15, 2017 in Arxiv
6d superconformal field theories (SCFTs) are the SCFTs in the highest possible dimension. They can be geometrically engineered in F-theory by compactifying on non-compact elliptic Calabi-Yau manifolds. In this paper we focus on the class of SCFTs whose base geometry is determined by $-2$ curves intersecting according to ADE Dynkin diagrams and derive the corresponding mirror Calabi-Yau manifold. T...

Dynamical Supersymmetry Breaking with T N Theory

Kazunobu Maruyoshi et 4 al.

Jul 31, 2013 in Arxiv
We demonstrate that the supersymmetry is dynamically broken in the four-dimensional SU(N) gauge theory coupled to a strongly-coupled superconformal theory T_N. This is a direct generalization of the model of supersymmetry breaking on deformed moduli space in supersymmetric QCD with an SU(2) gauge group.

Reducing the 4d Index to the S^3 Partition Function

Abhijit Gadde, Wenbin Yan

Apr 13, 2011 in Arxiv
The superconformal index of a 4d gauge theory is computed by a matrix integral arising from localization of the supersymmetric path integral on S^3 x S^1 to the saddle point. As the radius of the circle goes to zero, it is natural to expect that the 4d path integral becomes the partition function of dimensionally reduced gauge theory on S^3. We show that this is indeed the case and recover the mat...
